Requirements

Candidates must possess at least 4 years of professional Android development experience, including building production-level mobile applications and customer-facing SDKs. Fluency in Kotlin, with experience in Java, is required, along with a strong understanding of the Android development ecosystem, frameworks, and third-party libraries. Experience in the full mobile development lifecycle, deep knowledge of software engineering best practices (monitoring, observability, maintainable systems), and experience with AWS cloud-based infrastructure are essential. A champion of automated build and test pipelines is also required.

Responsibilities

The Android Engineer will drive technical excellence by designing, implementing, and optimizing scalable distributed applications for Twilio's Identity and Security products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams (product, design, infrastructure) to deliver customer-focused solutions, and improving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the Identity and Security systems. Responsibilities include driving best practices in software engineering (code reviews, testing, deployment), developing SDKs and libraries for other developers, contributing to architectural discussions and technical roadmaps, and driving operational excellence by prioritizing observability, reliability, security, and performance. Additionally, the engineer will mentor junior engineers to foster technical excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.
