Requirements

  • Experience leading or managing a team of Analytics Engineers, including day-to-day management such as leading rituals, prioritizing work, coaching through 1:1s, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, particularly with tools like dbt, modern cloud data warehouses, orchestration platforms, observability, and governance tools
  • Ability to establish and operate effective ways of working, including defining ownership models, SLAs, review cycles, coding standards, and documentation practices
  • Skills in elevating team performance and model reliability through delivering high-quality models with proper documentation, observability, and defining KPIs for modeling quality and delivery
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders (e.g., Business Analytics) to align on roadmaps, priorities, and ensuring work serves business needs and outcomes
  • Comfort with ~30% hands-on data modeling and the remainder on leadership, reviews, and stakeholder alignment

Responsibilities

  • Establish and operate a clear, effective way of working between Business Analytics and Analytics Engineering, defining ownership models, SLAs, review cycles, coding standards, and documentation practices
  • Elevate team performance and model reliability by delivering high-quality data models with proper documentation and observability, and defining KPIs to track modeling quality and delivery
  • Manage day-to-day team operations: Lead rituals, prioritize work, coach team members through 1:1s, and foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Business Analytics to align on roadmap and priorities, ensuring Analytics Engineering work serves business needs and outcomes
  • Build trustworthy, scalable data models that power Growth, Finance, and Product analytics for 500,000+ customers
  • Establish standards and governance to support scaling to one million SMEs by 2025
  • Lead a small team of 3 Analytics Engineers embedded with Business Analytics
  • Experiment with and adopt AI in day-to-day work to unlock productivity, while shaping team operations and tool adoption
