Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferably in science/mathematics field)
  • For Sr Actuarial Analyst: Associate member or higher of the Japan Actuary Association
  • For Actuarial Analyst: Passed multiple subjects in the Japan Actuary Association qualification exams
  • Analytical and quantitative skills (experience using various analysis software)
  • For Sr Actuarial Analyst: Experience in non-life insurance actuarial work, particularly data analysis and premium calculation in auto insurance
  • For Actuarial Analyst: Experience in actuarial science, data analysis, or non-life insurance field
  • Likes working with data/numbers and writing programs
  • Ability to autonomously set challenges and provide solutions
  • High initiative (e.g., actively takes on tasks)
  • Strong sense of responsibility (completes assigned work proactively)

Responsibilities

  • Premium calculation tasks: Conduct various analyses and calculations for determining auto insurance premium rates and explain the results
  • Analysis tasks:
  • Conduct periodic analyses and continuously participate in product design/premium rate verification processes
  • Perform ad-hoc detailed analyses as needed and provide results (with detailed explanations) to relevant departments to support product design, underwriting rule formulation, and various initiatives
  • Collaborate with business analysis and underwriting teams to monitor insurance risk elements (including accumulated/disaster risks) and support portfolio management
  • Approval-related tasks: Closely collaborate with the approval application team to prepare actuarial approval documents (calculation method documents and premium calculation basis, etc.) and handle negotiations with the Financial Services Agency
  • Financial tasks:
  • Closely collaborate with the product team to support planning for auto insurance profitability and growth targets, and monitor progress
  • Confirm changes in accounting treatments (including IBNR estimation methods) and their impacts
  • Skill development:
  • Continuously acquire new technologies and latest knowledge to improve own and team members' skills
  • Understand actuarial practices outside auto insurance and apply to auto actuarial tasks
  • Seriously commit to self-development (e.g., obtaining actuarial qualifications) and achieve results
