Requirements

  • Entry level Registered Nurse (RN) designation (CAP 1)
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) with 10- and 12-hour shifts, rotating schedule, Mon-Sat 7am-5:30pm, and on-call hours
  • Physical ability to perform direct patient care, including heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, frequent prolonged standing, and bending
  • Completion of CAP requirements to advance

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with another RN
  • Conduct ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre-, during, and post-treatment; document in medical record; adjust treatment plans and notify Supervisor, Physician, primary nurse, etc., as indicated
  • Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family basic learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education
  • Recognize and report patient status variations from normal to appropriate health team members (e.g., Supervisor, physician, facility primary Nurse)
  • Direct and provide safe, effective patient care for assigned patients as prescribed for modality-specific treatment procedures
  • Assess daily assigned patient care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary staff
  • Initiate and coordinate communication with FKC and Non-FKC dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel for continuity of care
  • Implement, administer, monitor, and document patient's response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions; notify physician and blood supplier of adverse reactions
  • Administer medications as prescribed; document justification and effectiveness
  • Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
  • Serve as a resource for health care team; participate in staff training and orientation of new staff
  • Provide specialized nursing care instruction to hospital/facility staff as per contract
  • Assist in an Outpatient facility on an as-needed basis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
