  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience or ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment (ICU, CCU, ED units)
  • Familiarity with Fresenius Medical Care and hospital emergency policies
  • Knowledge of dialysis treatment, renal replacement, and apheresis therapies
  • Ability to administer medications as prescribed and per contractual agreements
  • Skills in documentation, patient monitoring, and modifying treatment plans
  • Adherence to standards of nursing practice, state regulations, and company policies

Responsibilities

  • Participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care outcomes in inpatient settings
  • Provide safe, effective patient care and perform all essential functions of an Acute RN under supervision
  • Document and enter patient data before, during, and after dialysis treatment
  • Monitor patient status, recognize variations from normal, and modify treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare team members
  • Communicate with dialysis providers and hospital personnel for continuity of patient care
  • Administer medications as prescribed and ensure nephrology physician orders are received and entered in the medical record
  • Initiate or assist with emergency response measures
  • Delegate tasks to direct patient care staff and monitor their techniques and adherence to policies
  • Promote infection control, equipment, and environmental safety
  • Provide initial and ongoing education to patients and family
  • Coach hospital staff on specialized care related to renal replacement and apheresis therapies as needed
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update patient care plans
  • Complete and document participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
  • Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and orientation
  • Assist in outpatient facilities on an as-needed basis
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, procedures, and contractual agreements
