Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field including, but not limited to art, music, dance and recreation/fitness preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license. May be required to have driving record approved by Rogers Memorial Hospital’s insurance carrier
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR or American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification required within thirty (30) days of hire, with annual re-certification
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient required within sixty (60) days of hire, with annual re-certification, including self-defense training
  • Yoga certification (for yoga groups)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate leisure and recreational groups, including but not limited to stretching, fitness, games, yoga, sports, and arts and crafts
  • Conduct self in a professional manner, displaying leadership and positive role-modeling with patients and residents
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects, including attire, grooming, and presentation
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented approach to patient/resident care and maintain a supportive, collaborative environment
  • Demonstrate courteous and respectful demeanor, resolve issues positively, identify concerns, and provide input for resolution
  • Comply with Rogers Behavioral Health Policies and Procedures
  • Participate in Rogers Operating System (ROS), develop understanding, apply to department functions, and identify concerns
  • Conduct groups as scheduled, coordinate programming to meet patient/resident interests, and complete documentation for patient groups
  • Maintain safety and equipment standards of the Experiential Therapy department
  • Be flexible with work assignments, including schedule changes and program additions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of intervention strategies, utilize redirection, monitor behavior, intervene safely using de-escalation and least-restrictive measures
  • Establish therapeutic rapport with patient/resident groups while maintaining professional relationships
  • Attend mandatory in-services, relevant trainings, staff meetings, and meet with manager for guidance, training, evaluation, and reporting
  • Complete required orientation competencies and training within the Experiential Therapy department and hospital-wide
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
