Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; an advanced degree or equivalent relevant work experience is an asset
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in Finance/Accounting, with demonstrated leadership and people management skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP), combined with strong math, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced level of English, both written and spoken; knowledge of additional languages is a strong advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively manage stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; knowledge of AX Dynamics and Navision/Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an advantage
  • Forward-looking mindset with the ability to plan strategically, drive process improvements, and adapt to changing business needs
  • Experience applying acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent, making decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plans
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Managing onsite supervisory staff and oversight of offsite 3rd party staff within a global organization, ensuring that all Accounts Payable processes are completed accurately and within deadlines
  • Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the team, setting priorities, service levels and ensuring timely task completion
  • Conducting regular efficiency reviews, identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing enhancements, and managing other ad-hoc tasks
  • Supporting the team with complex situations, including direct interaction with suppliers or cross-functional collaboration with internal teams
  • Reviewing system processes, reporting and related activities with the assistance of the team to close any outstanding transactions and mitigate potential financial risks
  • Preparing and delivering reports to leadership and team members on key areas of responsibility
  • Training, mentoring, and coaching team members while providing input into employee performance evaluations and professional development
  • Researching GAAP issues escalated from staff and providing guidance on technical accounting matters, including complex reconciliation and journal entry processes
  • Calculating, reviewing and processing journal entries; compiling complex account reconciliations for management review, as well as reviewing reconciliations performed by staff
  • Leading and supporting special projects related to new processes, organizational changes, or other finance initiatives, including cross-divisional and global reporting
  • Acting as a functional expert with other departments on complex day-to-day Accounts Payable processes and requirements
  • Coaching team members on performance, completing employee evaluations, and providing input on compensation and resource planning
