Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience with life sciences/lab environment required, biotech startup strongly preferred
  • BA, BS in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • CPA Certification a plus
  • Experience with Bill.com, Netsuite and Netsuite Planning & Budgeting (or similar systems) and credit card management systems required
  • Experience with Quartzy (or other procurement systems) required
  • Familiarity with Washington State Sales and Use Tax required
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and able to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides, gmail) & MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Execute general Ledger accounting and month-end, quarter-end, year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, monthly accruals, fixed asset management and variance analysis
  • Operate AP / AR processes, including invoice review, coding, 3-way match and payment processing
  • Administer POs, and related coding, expense, prepaids and accruals
  • Manage company credit card transactions, expense reports and related reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Serve as primary Accounting point of contact for internal and external inquiries and discrepancy resolution
  • Support Financial Audits and Federal, State, Local tax returns and other government filings
  • Execute 1099 processing and maintenance
  • Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policy and GAAP
  • Uphold internal controls and influence process improvements
  • Serve as backup for Purchasing through our Procurement administration system
  • Work on adhoc projects to support the financial health, compliance and general administrative operations of Cajal
  • Champion a culture of nimbly leaning in to meet business needs as part of our general administrative ops team
