Responsibilities

Perform staff accounting functions that support business processes
Gain an understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems, and procedures
Learn and develop skills through practical application of basic accounting knowledge
Aid a project team or others in the work group
Accomplish compilation and basic analysis work, reviewing clerical input and generating reports
Identify relevant data and data sources, gather and analyze information, and provide feedback
Handle decisions impacting medium to high-risk issues (reviewed by supervisor)
Perform cost system maintenance
Conduct normals & machine rate development
Identify and report abnormals
Monitor and analyze prime product and/or component costs
Perform operations and/or product group budgeting and expense analysis
Forecast and report capital expenditures
Resolve standard and current cost grief
Support management with analysis for decision making in projects and cost reduction programs
Provide comprehensive support for New Product Introduction (NPI), including determining discounted cash flow (DCF) and internal rate of return
Conduct regional profitability reporting & analysis
Support NPI with future cost, should cost, alternative analyses, and strategy
Determine & analyze OPACC
Coordinate and/or govern enterprise costing activities
Develop & execute product group and/or operational strategy
Perform low-cost producer analysis
Complete post implementation audits (PIA)
Develop new/alternative costing methodologies, processes, and/or systems
