Requirements

  • Ability to co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support
  • Availability to cover for instructor absences and lead classes independently when needed
  • Comfort with remote, bichronous online instruction via Zoom
  • Completion of 10 hours of self-guided asynchronous instructor training prior to programming start
  • Attendance at Instructor Orientations on 02/05, 5:30-8:00pm
  • Availability for Synchronous Online Instruction on Saturdays 8:45am-2:15pm: February 21, 28; March 7, 21; April 4, 11, 18; May 2, 9, 16
  • Availability for Asynchronous Academic Support: Wednesdays 6-7pm on select weeks (February 23-26, March 9-12, April 6-9, 13-16, 27-30, May 11-14) to host office hours, meet with Student Advisors, and engage with Scholars’ work
  • Maximum 10 hours per week during seasonal employment
  • Placement in 9th Grade (Theory of Intelligence) or 10th Grade (Critical Media Analysis) ELA courses
  • Proficiency in navigating instructional technologies: Brightspace (LMS), Nearpod, GSuit applications, and Zoom chat in a blended learning environment

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory; lead classes independently when covering for absent instructors
  • Follow provided lesson plans, meet lesson objectives, and abide by SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
  • Learn and efficiently utilize instructional technologies in a blended learning environment
  • Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials prior to teaching; implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on student needs
  • Host open-door lunch tutoring sessions for skill review, makeup work, or skill development
  • Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to foster student connection, investment, and positive community relationships
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check-ins, and debriefs; respond timely to emails and Zoom chats
  • Meet with assigned instructional coach (Lead Instructor) at least twice per semester to receive and implement feedback from classroom observations
