Requirements
- Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
- Knowledge of pharmacy processing procedures, inventory control, and pill cell performance
- Ability to read and translate prescriptions into system codes
- Compliance with local, state, federal laws, Medicare, Medicaid policies, and corporate procedures
- Understanding of third-party insurance claims, reject codes, and reprocessing procedures
- Ability to work 3rd shift in a Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy environment
- Team-oriented mindset with skills in building relationships, mentoring, and embracing diversity
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (e.g., pharmaceuticals, supplies) through adherence to control procedures, auditing, testing, process audits, corrective actions, database management, troubleshooting, hazardous waste disposal, and handling recalled/expired stock
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software, including translating information, transcribing details (e.g., drug name, strength, directions, prescriber info), and creating/modifying patient records
- Promote pharmacy's professional reputation and deliver products/services per laws and policies by assisting in prescription fulfillment, stocking/rotating merchandise, handling claims/returns, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe/clean environment
- Comply with Medicare/Medicaid by implementing rules, staying updated on changes, researching for accurate processing, and documenting audits
- Fulfill prescriptions by identifying/selecting products, verifying size/strength, counting/measuring/weighing medications, mixing/reconstituting as needed, entering expiration/lot numbers, labeling, packaging, and distributing
- Monitor and resolve prescription fulfillment issues (e.g., systems, insurance, stock) by determining root causes, coordinating with insurers/IT, reprocessing claims, alerting patients, and escalating to pharmacists
- Embrace differences, foster belonging, create opportunities for associates, build team relationships, communicate positively, mentor others, and maintain high standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance
