Requirements

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's or higher in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a welding emphasis, Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering with a welding emphasis, Welding and Fabrication Technology, or Weld Fabrication Technology Management (degree must be obtained before start)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unrounded)
  • 12 months or less of professional experience in this field (excluding internships)
  • Willing to travel and relocate domestically
  • Willing to work in-person Monday through Friday

Responsibilities

  • Participate in three 12-month rotations in various Caterpillar facilities in the United States as part of the Manufacturing Technology and Solutions team
  • Build welding and materials joining technical abilities in roles including (but not limited to): Research and Development, Facility Welding Engineering Support, Product Development, Analysis, Automation, and Supplier Quality Support
  • Apply analytical skills, initiate ideas, troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, problem-solve, and use critical thinking
  • Demonstrate knowledge of engineering principles, theory, and experience from projects, internships, or relevant work
  • Design and implement welding and fabrication processes that safely realize objectives or inventions in a manufacturing environment
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and quickly acquire and apply new skills and knowledge
  • Collaborate with others of diverse cultures, interpersonal styles, and abilities
  • Use strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Participate in and contribute to an inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment, ensuring all team members’ contributions are recognized and valued
