Workday Financials Principal Consultant

As a Financials Principal Consultant at Cognizant, you will guide clients through the entire lifecycle of a Workday implementation, encompassing transformation, implementation, and ongoing operation. This role requires a strong technical aptitude and the ability to configure Workday to meet specific business requirements and design specifications.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on functional financials experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, or other ERP financial management systems.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency with business processes including: general ledger, budgeting, cash management, grant management, chart of accounts re-design, procure-to-pay, purchase order conversions, expense management, fixed asset management, and/or order-to-cash.
  • Report writing experience and/or Workday Financials certification (highly desired).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Become a Workday Financials expert, possessing knowledge of design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
• Recommend the best solution based on client requirements, budget, and timeframe, adapting the scope as needed.
• Guide clients through facilitated design sessions and configuration decisions based on best practices and unique business requirements.
• Support clients through all phases of the project, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems to Workday.
• Perform multiple tasks under limited direction, keeping clients, project teams, and Engagement Managers informed of project progress.
• Mentor fellow consultants and analysts, providing support for shadow assignments.
• Participate in update training and internal opportunities to share skills and learnings.
