Workday Financials Principal Consultant

Position Overview
Cognizant is seeking a Workday Financials Principal Consultant with extensive experience in Financial Management systems. In this role, you will lead clients through the transformation, implementation, and operational phases of Workday projects. A strong technical aptitude is essential, enabling you to configure the Workday product to meet specific business requirements and design specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Become a Workday Financials expert, demonstrating proficiency in design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
- Leverage expertise to recommend optimal solutions based on client requirements, budget, and timeframe, with the flexibility to adapt scope as new needs arise.
- Guide clients through facilitated design sessions and configuration decisions, applying best practices and understanding unique business requirements at all project stages.
- Engage and support clients throughout all project phases, ensuring a seamless transition from legacy systems to the Workday solution.
- Manage multiple tasks with limited direction, providing regular updates on project changes and progress to the client, project team, and Engagement Manager.
- Actively participate in update training and internal knowledge-sharing opportunities.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Required: 2+ years of Workday functional implementation experience.
- Required: 2-5 years of Financial software experience.
- Required: 2-5 years of implementing functional solutions with ERP or SaaS software.
- Required Proficiency in Business Processes: General ledger, budgeting, cash management, grant management, chart of accounts re-design, procure-to-pay, purchase order conversions, expense management, fixed asset management, and/or order-to-cash.
- Required: Prior experience leading or managing teams.
- Highly Desired: Report writing experience and/or Workday Financials certification.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to detail.
- Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively manage customer expectations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to collaborate across teams to achieve defined goals.
- Minimal travel required, but must be willing to travel on-site if needed.
Salary and Other Compensation

- This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to applicable plan terms.
