Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the USA
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Welding experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess basic reading and mathematical skills
  • Ability to produce CJP, PJP and fillet welds in ALL welding positions using FCAW and SMAW welding processes
  • Ability to produce CJP, PJP welds in the 1G and 2G welding positions and fillet welds in the 1F and 2F welding positions using SAW-A and SAW-SA welding processes
  • Willing and able to operate various pieces of grinding equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to inspect products to ensure quality and identify and correct unacceptable areas
  • Ability to effectively set up and operate mechanical and manual cutting devices
  • Ability to effectively set and use air carbon arc gouging equipment
  • Ability to effectively set up and operate all welding equipment
  • Understand and interpret shop drawings, prints and weld symbols
  • Able to read and use standard and metric measuring devices
  • Ability to assist in training efforts and mentor/assist other welding personnel
  • Ability to maintain equipment and work area, identify potential hazards and make corrections
  • Ability to perform independently in a safe, professional and conscientious manner
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally and courteously
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate, use and maneuver cranes and other lifting devices, and select/use rigging and material handling equipment
  • Ability to stand continuously, with occasional walking and sitting; perform physical activities including pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying 60 lb. objects, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending, handling, repetitive motions and awkward positioning
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus
  • Ability to work in environments near moving mechanical parts, outside/inside in all conditions, with exposure to fumes, airborne particulates, electric shock, burn hazards (UV light, flames, sparks), high noise levels (requiring hearing protection), and correctly use PPE at all times

Responsibilities

  • Perform production welding and other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
  • Inspect products to ensure quality and correct unacceptable areas
  • Assist in training efforts and mentor/assist other welding personnel
  • Maintain equipment and work area, identify potential hazards and make corrections
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating effectively, professionally and courteously with customers, coworkers, clients and supervisors
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervision, including cleaning, trash/scrap removal and other production-related jobs
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the work area and shop
  • Understand and comply with all Canam Bridges internal documentation systems
  • Work in a safe, professional and conscientious manner
