Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership to Humana Military
  • Oversee all corporate-driven Budgeting, Forecasting, and Reporting, GL Accounting, Contract Accounting, Government Cost Accounting, and Proposal Pricing
  • Update and maintain budgeting and reporting systems; improve communication and process flow of annual cycles
  • Ensure monthly GL accounting activities (including revenue and expense recognition) are performed timely and accurately
  • Oversee contract accounting function, including Health Care cash flow reconciliation and enrollment fee balancing
  • Develop Humana Military’s Disclosure Statement and annual Forward Pricing Rate Proposals
  • Ensure daily Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) project accounting compliance (purchase requisition accounting and labor accounting practices)
  • Ensure all financial data and reporting is current, accurate, and complete
  • Develop strategy to drive membership and earnings growth, with short-term goals supporting long-term ambitions
  • Support contracting efforts with oversight and influence on negotiations and change order requests
  • Lead Proposal Pricing strategies for REAs and significant Change Orders
  • Negotiate directly with Major Subcontractors and Contracting Officers for items with significant financial impacts
  • Lead financial analytics team to support TRICARE growth ambitions
  • Engage with HM leadership team to enable pricing and membership decisions aligned to growth and sustainability
  • Execute financials for TRICARE business to ensure flawless financial data and support key business initiatives
  • Partner with the President of Humana Military and HM Executive Leadership to deliver results and present insights on budgeting, forecasting, and variances
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and projections, including KPI and balanced scorecard reports
  • Provide financial pictures of HM business (annual revenue, members served, discount impacts, total contract value)
  • Provide financial pictures supporting segment ambitions (ROIC targets, Pre-tax targets, Admin improvement targets)
  • Drive financial evaluation of future RFPs and serve as key stakeholder in HM contracting life cycle
  • Establish relationships with operational executives and develop operational and capital budgets for HM
  • Establish processes for timely review of actual performance against approved budgets
  • Maintain relationship with segment actuaries for membership forecasts, pricing decisions, underwriting targets, trend identification, and solution ideation with operations
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and safeguards of company assets are in place and working
  • Provide oversight of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) functions and all financial/statistical reporting for Government LOBs
