Requirements

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician with 2+ years of experience, or any experience in ER/ICU setting
  • Strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills to daily work
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in technician protocols
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks/projects

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide all technical support to primary emergency veterinarian
  • Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Perform basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while following radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication
