Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit patrols in accordance with annual VM plan, VM patrol standards, and processes
  • Identify required tree work along PG&E rights-of-way, prescribe tree work, and document inspections
  • Ensure inspections meet applicable standards and scope
  • Notify property owners/agencies of tree work and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Act as VM contact for new business and re-construction work requested by energy delivery organization
  • Perform work verification inspections to verify completion and quality of tree work
  • Investigate and document tree-related outages and attend outage meetings as requested
  • Handle VM tags: track, field check, prescribe work, notify customers for non-routine locations (e.g., EC/LC, Gas OCW, CC&B cases), and assist in closing CC&B cases
  • Support emergency response (e.g., OEC-directed, level one operations like dispatching crews, field checking, first responder agreements)
  • Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment, trimming, and other field operations
  • Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings
  • Act as customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E
  • Provide support and coordination between contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, PG&E workgroups, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., annual permits, encroachment permits, traffic control plans, railroad/Caltrans permits, environmental measures)
  • Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe work for PG&E tree contractors to maintain compliance for at least one calendar year
  • Assist in submitting inspection results to clients with recommendations; plan, direct, coordinate tree clearance crews; discuss/negotiate access issues; serve as liaison between clients, crews, and customers
