Requirements

  • Educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation, or related disciplines preferred
  • Reside within 50 miles of Chico or Oroville, CA
  • Ability to work outdoors in a safety-sensitive role
  • Proficient in electronic devices and documentation (electronic and paper-based reporting)

Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual VM plan, VM patrol standards, and processes
  • Identify required tree work along existing PG&E rights-of-way, prescribe tree work, and document inspections
  • Ensure inspections meet applicable standards and scope
  • Notify property owners/agencies of tree work and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Act as VM contact for new business and re-construction work requested by the energy delivery organization
  • Perform work verification inspections to verify completion and quality of tree work
  • Investigate and document tree-related outages and attend outage meetings as requested
  • Handle VM tags for non-routine locations (e.g., Electric Corrective notifications, Gas OCW, CC&B cases), including tracking, field checking, prescribing work, notifying customers, and assisting in case close-outs
  • Support emergency response, such as dispatching tree crews, field checking sites, and first responder agreements
  • Independently complete tasks assigned by the supervisor
  • Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment, trimming, and other field operations
  • Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings
  • Act as customer relations representative on behalf of PG&E
  • Provide support and coordination between contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, and PG&E workgroups/stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., annual permits, encroachment permits, traffic control plans, railroad/Caltrans permits, environmental protections)
  • Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe work to be performed by PG&E’s tree contractors to ensure clearances
