Responsibilities
- Produce multiple articles daily, including AI-assisted stories, to a high editorial standard
- Pitch original ideas and develop exclusives: secure expert/source quotes, obtain documents/data, and advance stories
- Respond quickly to breaking news; contribute to live blogs during major events
- Apply sound editorial judgment and rigorous fact-checking to ensure accuracy, fairness, clarity, and journalistic integrity
- Leverage AI and automation tools to boost reporting efficiency (research support, drafting assistance, transcript/translation, timelines), while editing and verifying all outputs
- Collaborate with editors, visuals, and audience teams to package stories with graphics, images, video, and embeds
- Ensure Newsweek delivers high-quality reporting that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism
- Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business
