Responsibilities
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions; patrol transmission lines using maps and drawings
Use proper hand signals for line work; perform all right-of-way control procedures
Install, maintain, and repair overhead lines; dig holes for poles, towers, anchors; set poles/towers/guy anchorages; replace/stub poles (dead/energized); make/install guys
Assemble tower components and frame pole structures on ground/in air
Attach tools/materials to life ropes/cables; test/support poles before climbing; operate transmission motor-driven tools; select/apply knots; perform rigging/tying off ropes
Under direct supervision, assist in live line tools, bare-hand techniques, rubber gloves/sleeves, and other work methods
Perform climbing maintenance on transmission structures (except energized cross-arms)
Make conductor/shield wire splices, dead-ends, terminals; identify conductor types/sizes; set up reels; install conductors/shield wires
