Requirements

  • Expertise in U.S. and international trade regulations, including CBP, EAR, ITAR, OFAC
  • Knowledge of tariff classifications, HTS, ECCN determinations, free trade agreements (FTA/USMCA)
  • Experience managing customs brokers, import/export documentation, and licensing requirements
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of three Trade Compliance Specialists
  • Strong partnership-building skills with procurement, logistics, supply chain, finance, and engineering teams
  • Proficiency in risk management, denied party screening, export control checks, and audits/investigations
  • Skills in strategic decision-making, assessing complex situations, and long-term planning
  • Effective communication, including articulating vision, feedback, active listening
  • Capability to foster team growth and professional development
  • Experience with ERP integration, data analytics, process automation, and trade compliance digitalization

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three Trade Compliance Specialists, fostering growth, accountability, and excellence
  • Build partnerships across procurement, logistics, supply chain, finance, and engineering to align compliance with business priorities
  • Drive a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing
  • Oversee import/export activities for compliance with U.S. and international regulations (CBP, EAR, ITAR, OFAC)
  • Manage relationships with U.S. customs brokers for accurate entry filings, HTS classification, and valuation
  • Ensure documentation accuracy for import/export transactions (invoices, origin declarations, licensing)
  • Provide guidance on tariff classifications, ECCN, and FTA/USMCA qualifications
  • Develop and maintain internal trade compliance policies, SOPs, and recordkeeping standards
  • Advise business leaders on trade compliance for projects, supply chain changes, and cross-border initiatives
  • Monitor global trade regulations, assess impacts, and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Support audits, investigations, coordinate with auditors, and manage corrective actions
  • Provide risk management guidance and implement mitigation strategies (screening, checks, licensing)
  • Identify opportunities to streamline/automate processes via ERP and analytics
  • Lead/participate in corporate trade compliance initiatives, global harmonization, and training
  • Support ERP implementation for trade master data, HS/ECCN, and control modules
