Requirements

  • Ability to lead collaboration among an interdisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in empirically supported therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, DBT, family therapy)
  • Experience or capability to work in acute care settings (inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient)
  • Adherence to ethical guidelines, including confidentiality and reporting suspected abuse/neglect per state law and policy
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills (assertive, accurate)
  • Ability to receive feedback productively for personal/professional development
  • Flexibility to support changes in staffing/scheduling
  • Understanding of Joint Commission, State, and regulatory compliance
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
  • Professional conduct and maintenance of current knowledge of department processes, protocols, and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Assess patients' needs through comprehensive assessments
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and facilitate treatment team meetings
  • Provide counseling and support using evidence-based techniques in sessions and milieu
  • Educate patients on mental health/substance use conditions, self-care, treatment options, costs/benefits, and aftercare
  • Document patient progress, sessions, goals, and interventions within required timelines
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, case managers) internally and externally
  • Report and document suspected physical, sexual abuse, and/or neglect per law and policy
  • Participate in clinical initiatives, projects, and activities for system-wide improvement
  • Ensure patient safety, facility safety, and perform other duties as assigned (e.g., support direct patient care and system initiatives)
