Candidates must possess an active RN license in a Nursing Compact state and have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with diabetes patients in a clinical setting. A Bachelor's RN Nursing degree from an accredited school or university is required, with a preference for CDE licensure. The role also requires 3+ years of experience managing nurses, ideally in an ambulatory, virtual practice, or clinical diabetes setting, and demonstrated success in developing direct reports' careers, hiring quality staff, and building team cohesion. Telehealth or startup experience is preferred, as is eligibility for licensure in every U.S. state. An aptitude for working with a growth-stage, tech-enabled healthcare organization and an outstanding bedside manner are essential.
The TeleHealth Diabetes Nurse Manager will build and manage a team of 10-15 part-time nurses, overseeing QA/QI, supervision, scheduling, and licensure management. This player-coach role involves spending approximately half the time seeing patients and half the time managing the team. Responsibilities include conducting 20-minute clinical intake visits via video and/or phone, educating patients about Virta's treatment, and preparing them for their health journey. Management duties encompass daily schedule hygiene for the nursing team, monitoring and assigning provider support requests, providing updates to the clinical intake workflow, delivering just-in-time feedback, conducting weekly POD meetings, and collaborating with leadership on quality initiatives.
