Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a Master's in Tax or JD/LLM being preferred. A CPA designation is also preferred. The role requires over 10 years of progressive experience in U.S. federal, state, and international income tax, encompassing both public accounting and in-house corporate roles. Strong technical expertise in ASC 740, U.S. international tax provisions, and compliance is essential, along with proven experience managing tax provision processes for multinational companies. Prior experience in fast-paced environments, particularly within eCommerce, SaaS, or digital retail, is highly desirable, as are excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Familiarity with ERP systems like NetSuite or Oracle and tax compliance software is also expected.
The Tax Director will lead the direct tax and tax provision functions, overseeing domestic and international income tax compliance and ASC 740 tax accounting within a marketplace environment. Key responsibilities include leading quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision processes, managing deferred taxes, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions, and ensuring SOX-compliant internal controls. This role involves partnering with global finance teams and external advisors for timely and accurate tax reporting and filing of U.S. federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, including international information reporting. The Director will maintain documentation for transfer pricing and foreign tax credit positions, monitor global tax reform developments, and identify strategic tax planning opportunities to reduce the global effective tax rate. Additionally, they will support M&A due diligence, evaluate and optimize the tax impact of digital marketplace operations, and collaborate with various internal teams to align tax strategy with business priorities, while also supporting the indirect tax team on nexus studies and marketplace facilitator rules.
