Willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Willing to work in temperatures ranging from 20°F to 100°F+
Able to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 70 lbs
Willing to use hands and arms above shoulder level and stand for 8-10 hours per day
At least 5 years of in-shop experience
Ability to keep work area clean while prioritizing safety
Proficiency in using hand and power tools
Skilled in stick welding various metals, including understanding different metal composites and using appropriate welding rods
Ability to set welding machines for different amperages
Proficient in TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding, using different types of fill rods, and understanding temperature settings on the welding machine
Proficient in MIG (metal inert gas) welding (“wire welding”)
Ability to set up welding machines for different wire and feed speeds from the wire feed box
Ability to hard surface areas with a powder flame mixture
Ability to understand sketches, drawings, and blueprints to build frameworks or structures of various types
Ability to grind work after welding
Steel toe boots required
6 months experience in mechanic work in the work history section of application or graduate of an industrial maintenance training program (qualifying candidates must take a tour before accepting job offer)
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson must observe a 180-day rehire waiting period and are subject to a 3-time rehire limit
