Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED (4-year college degree in a related discipline preferred)
  • 3 years of inventory control experience and/or warehouse experience in food distribution
  • 1-year experience on IBM AS400
  • Warehouse equipment certification and possibly forklift
  • Ability to perform light to medium physical work, including frequent walking, prolonged standing, lifting, bending, reaching, and operating equipment like pallet jack and forklift
  • Ability to communicate clearly with shippers and employees
  • Ability to read text close and at a distance (with or without correction)
  • Ability to perform manual tasks, hear, sit, and interact with others
  • Tolerance for working inside (including extreme cold in freezer) and outside, with exposure to hazardous conditions like moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and high places

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and inspect produce at the dock to ensure quality standards are met and quantity is correct
  • Handle all receiving and inventory adjustments to assure correctness and entry into the mainframe
  • Perform daily physical cycle counts on frozen, cooler, and dry products
  • Manage slotting and assigning of all new items in the warehouse, ensuring correctness in the mainframe and proper labeling of slots
  • Keep warehouse manager informed of potential problems and changes
  • Notify customer service of potential outs
  • Complete inventory and warehouse reports daily
  • Manage and direct all physical inventories per SYGMA guidelines and directives
  • Work closely with all departments regarding merchandise received, new items, and inventories to ensure continuous flow of information
  • Adhere to cycle count program
  • Adhere to HACCP and MSDS guidelines
