Requirements

  • Preferred field(s) of study: Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field; demonstrated understanding of typography, color theory, layout design, and visual hierarchy within your portfolio is a plus
  • Applicants without a portfolio will not be considered
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating design solutions for internal clients, departments, and initiatives under the guidance of the Creative Director and Senior Design team, contributing to brand-aligned digital and print communications
  • Support the design team in developing visual concepts that resonate with diverse audiences and translate business objectives into compelling creative solutions
  • Help execute design projects across multiple formats, including digital platforms, print materials, social media, and presentation decks
  • Support the maintenance of NYCEDC brand consistency across all touchpoints while learning and applying brand guidelines
  • Participate in creative presentations and team meetings, gaining exposure to the process of presenting design work to stakeholders
  • Assist in developing and refining design templates and systems that support team workflows
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, learning to balance creative excellence with tight deadlines and shifting organizational priorities
  • Contribute to building a positive, collaborative creative team culture
