Requirements

  • Available for a paid 40 hr/week internship starting Summer 2026 in South Sacramento, California
  • Interest in developing skills for a store leadership role (e.g., Executive Team Leader/Assistant Store Manager)
  • Willingness to work hands-on in a retail environment, including salesfloor and backroom

Responsibilities

  • Lead amongst team members on the store salesfloor and backroom, aligning the team on daily business priorities
  • Develop understanding of Target’s retail business operations and excelling in a management role
  • Drive guest experience, including guest service fundamentals, engagement, problem-solving, and resolution
  • Impact store’s financial, team, and operational performance
  • Work alongside a mentor to learn effective department leadership and step into leading mentor's department
  • Lead and motivate a team, drive sales results, merchandise products, and provide exceptional guest experience
  • Support execution of daily operations by working beside team members
  • Build team culture, guide team to grow and achieve goals
  • Learn guest service fundamentals and build/manage a guest-first team culture across the store
  • Apply retail business fundamentals
  • Set and plan department(s) monthly/quarterly workload to support business priorities and manage team to deliver service and sales goals
  • Manage a team of hourly team members and team leaders while creating business strategies and goals
  • Recruit, select, and manage talent of hourly team members and leaders
