Requirements

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) upon hire
High School or GED Equivalent (preferred)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Ability to work specified hours, including PRN/as needed shifts

Responsibilities

Performs decontamination, assembly, and sterilization according to Infection Control and established QA monitoring guidelines
Operates sterilization equipment including steam, ETO, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaner, washer/sterilizer, and automated cart washer
Operates equipment according to manufacturer directions ensuring operator safety
Utilizes computer, desktop, laptop, and handheld PDA for accessing information, instrument tracking, decontamination, and assembly functions
Reports broken or malfunctioning instruments and equipment to supervisor or manager
Answers phones and meets customer needs professionally
Communicates with manager, supervisors, and co-workers
Upholds Avera’s standards of Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement (CARE)
Maintains confidentiality and complies with safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, OSHA)
Works effectively in a team environment, coordinating workflow for productivity and efficiency
