Requirements

  • Student in final year of engineering cycle (Bac+5) in robotics, automation, industrial computing, mechatronics or related field
  • Skills in Python programming (automation, APIs, data parsing/visualization)
  • Good knowledge of kinematics/dynamics and trajectory calculations; interest in scientific computing
  • Knowledge of industrial buses and/or real-time systems (e.g., EtherCAT) appreciated
  • Experimental rigor, documentation, and traceability (quality/validation)
  • Autonomy, initiative, teamwork; technical English written and oral

Responsibilities

  • Automate "stop distance" measurements: Develop Python scripts to control a laser tracker and automate measurements per the Stop Distance test plan. Write documentation and perform qualification (traceability, reproducibility, acceptance criteria) of scripts and tools
  • Algorithms & scientific computing: Update mathematical formulas and stop distance calculation algorithms in rooms, including for non-linear or non-angular trajectories (considering kinematics/dynamics and real conditions)
  • Python interfaces for internal tools: Design Python interfaces to access functionalities of tools (EtherCAT Viewer, Trajectory Viewer, Model Viewer) for scripted control of data acquisition, visualization, and export
  • Interoperability & standardization: Work with the automation team to standardize commands, conventions (names, units, references), and workflows between EtherCAT Viewer, Trajectory Viewer, Model Viewer, and the laser tracker
  • Tool-assisted study of 3D measurement: Benchmark market solutions for 3D distance measurements between elements, define selection criteria (precision, latency, SDK/APIs, Python integration, cost, safety), and propose a tooling recommendation for in situ measurement automation
  • Methodological approach: Targeted literature review (kinematics/3D measurement/error estimation), specification (requirements, performance criteria, test sets), implementation (Python scripts, APIs, tool integrations), validation/qualification (protocols, metrology, statistical analyses, reports), capitalization (documentation, user guides, user training)
  • Main deliverables: Qualified Python scripts (laser automation, tool interfaces), documented algorithm sets (models, assumptions, limits) and validation reports, 3D benchmark dossier (decision matrix, possible PoC, recommendation), user guide + calculation notes for internal distribution
