Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Preferably Mechanical, Electrical and/or Computer Science)
  • Minimum of 4 or more years relevant work experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent CAD skills (ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD electrical)
  • Proficient use of common fabrication equipment
  • Excellent Software skills in LabVIEW and/or Python
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent mechanical/electrical/software design solving skills, including reliability fault detection/isolation techniques
  • Experience in developing hardware (or software) to control multi-actuator electro-mechanical systems
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a structured way
  • Test Lab/Test System design experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, develops, and executes experimental benchtop testing of prototypes and early design concepts, with opportunity to collaborate on design improvements
  • Collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to develop functional specifications and acceptance criteria for new products
  • Verifies design outputs against functional specifications for functionality, reliability, compatibility, usability, safety and other requirements
  • Analyzes documentation and confers with test lab and engineering team to resolve details not completely captured or defined in specifications
  • Creates and maintains test system documentation, including test methods, protocols, reports, fixture CAD and engineering drawings
  • Leads and collaborates with team of test engineers to provide efficient and cost-effective design solutions
  • Evaluates test data and results, runs statistical analyses, and draws meaningful conclusions about the design
  • Organizes, participates in, and leads technical design reviews to present test data to the wider team in a digestible way
  • Owns or contributes to the engineering change request process for design changes
  • Directs and interacts with internal and external partners to complete the fabrication and assembly of test systems
  • Tracks purchases and expenditures for projects
  • Supports and leads qualification, validation, and calibration activities for equipment as required
  • Troubleshoots and modifies equipment as needed to meet user requirements
  • Helps prioritize workload for project team with department leadership
  • Prepares time and cost estimates for projects
  • Submits periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel
  • Assists in the training of others on test related topics
  • Mentors and coaches lesser experienced employees
  • Researches and incorporates new technology related to testing and areas of expertise
