This specific role is centered on enhancing the Swift compiler and toolchain to facilitate development for Windows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical initiatives for both current and new features within the Swift compiler, toolchain, SDK, and frameworks specifically for Windows.
  • Adapt existing frameworks for Windows compatibility and resolve Windows-specific defects and testing issues.
  • Oversee build processes, diagnosing and rectifying the root causes of failures in the Swift CI system.
  • Sustain and enhance support for platforms currently under development and those not yet fully supported, such as Windows ARM64 and Android.
  • Develop a macOS toolchain using GitHub Actions (GHA) to serve as an alternative within Xcode.
  • Contribute to the open-source community by submitting upstream changes that benefit the broader developer ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in Swift programming and compiler development.
  • Proficiency with the Chromium architecture and its associated build tooling.
  • Solid understanding of client-side infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve build-related failures.
  • A commitment to contributing to open-source projects.
