Requirements

Candidates must possess 10+ years of experience in designing, building, shipping, and maintaining software at scale, along with expertise in at least one frontend language and a willingness to learn TypeScript and Vue. They should have experience working in a startup environment and the ability to operate independently with ambiguity, as well as the capacity to quickly ramp up to Propel’s product ecosystem and demonstrate excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences. Furthermore, candidates should have deep expertise working cross-functionally, especially with designers and product managers, and the ability to provide excellent feedback in technical specifications, code reviews, and team discussions.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Engineer (UX/Frontend) will be a strategic leader in identifying technical and product opportunities, advocating for large refactors of legacy systems, and contributing hands-on to setting the technical and product direction of the company. They will up-level and set the bar for engineering by establishing best practices, serving as a role model for others, and ensuring high-quality product delivery. The role involves diving deep into complex product work, providing autonomy and support to tackle challenging projects, and collaborating effectively with designers and product managers to deliver impactful solutions that positively affect the lives of Propel’s users.
