Requirements

Candidates must have 8+ years of software engineering experience, or 6 years with a Master's degree. Strong proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented languages, JavaScript application development, and a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and performance optimization are required. The role also requires strong analytical and design skills, experience mentoring engineers, supporting production systems, and leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. Experience with modern UI frameworks like Angular, React, or Vue, familiarity with ServiceNow platform features and scripting, exposure to AI-powered tools and workflows, and hands-on software engineering experience in the security domain are considered nice to have.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Engineer will build high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices in software engineering architecture and processes, including code reviews and unit testing. They will collaborate with product owners and designers to understand requirements and refine scope, owning their code from design through delivery and test automation. Responsibilities include collaborating with fellow developers and quality engineering peers, contributing to new products and features while enhancing existing ones, shaping intuitive user experiences, troubleshooting customer environments, debugging code, exploring and integrating ServiceNow AI capabilities, and mentoring peers to foster knowledge-sharing and engineering excellence.
