Cars Commerce is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Marketplace Engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and scaling our next-generation search platform, redefining our search capabilities within our listings marketplace. Your Role

You will lead the technical vision and execution for our consumer-facing search capabilities within our listings marketplace. You will be in the driver's seat as we build novel search solutions that support frictionless experiences for our users across the Cars.com website and mobile app.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical vision and execution for our consumer-facing search capabilities within our listings marketplace.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Server-Driven UI (SDUI) APIs using GraphQL to enable dynamic, flexible client interfaces across mobile and web platforms.
  • Write high-performance and reliable backend services utilizing languages such as Elixir, NodeJS, or Python.
  • Drive the technical strategy for server-driven UI approaches, enabling dynamic and flexible client interfaces.

  • Highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and scaling search platforms.
  • Proficiency in backend development languages such as Elixir, NodeJS, or Python.
  • Experience with GraphQL for building Server-Driven UI (SDUI) APIs.
  • Ability to drive architectural decisions and mentor other engineers.
