Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 15+ years applicable experience, or Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering + >10 years’ experience, or Master’s degree + 3-5 years’ experience, or PhD in science + 1-3 years’ experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Continuous improvement experience (lean, PPI, Six Sigma, 5S) a plus
  • Project Management and/or PMP certification a plus
  • Knowledge/Experience in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (strongly desired; not required)
  • Knowledge of established Quality Systems, ISO regulations and/or cGMP
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Able to work in laboratory setting, office, with some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule remotely, in laboratory, or manufacturing environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) across all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving skills involving science and engineering
  • Highly organized with ability to multi-task and accomplish work remotely
  • Flexibility to address immediate priorities while managing deadlines for longer-term projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute to projects for sourcing/insourcing/outsourcing changes of processes, raw materials, and/or finished goods for Chemical & Biological commodity
  • Collaborate with multiple Thermo Fisher groups, senior management, and external vendors to affect and/or implement change
  • Encourage technical relationships and handle conflicts with confidence and integrity
  • Lead or be a member of cross-functional teams, facilitating communication, decision making, and ensuring alignment with internal and external partners/stakeholders
  • Develop or complete project tasks, deliverables, dependencies, and resource requirements
  • Track and communicate project status, plans, issues, timelines, action items, and budgets
  • Study product requirements, design testing and manufacturing systems to meet requirements
  • Perform statistical analysis to analyze trends, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend/implement corrective actions for processes
  • Investigate, design, and implement control systems & methods to ensure product quality and/or equivalency
  • Develop/implement strategies & sound recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative inputs, considering quality, manufacturing, and financial drivers
  • Write & complete validation plans/reports
  • Support R&D new sourcing initiatives (New Product Introduction) as required
