Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a data scientist and/or machine learning engineer, with a focus on advanced models in finance
  • Expertise in Python, with a strong familiarity with relevant tools and libraries

Responsibilities

  • Implement and deploy an automated pipeline for model recalibration and re-fitting across key models, starting with those for fraud detection, to ensure models maintain optimal performance as market conditions evolve and threat actors' tactics change
  • Contribute to the continued development and productionization of Wealthsimple's foundational AI model, including building scalable training pipelines, optimizing model performance, and engineering systems to process diverse client signals (trades, transfers, clicks, purchases) into a unified high-dimensional embedding for downstream applications such as fraud detection, client segmentation, outlier detection
  • Drive model explainability (xAI) initiatives to ensure ML models meet regulatory requirements, implementing interpretability techniques to make models transparent, satisfy compliance standards, and enable faster model approval and deployment
  • Lead the implementation of best practices in machine learning operations to create a secure, scalable infrastructure, architecting robust ML systems that protect against cybersecurity vulnerabilities like data poisoning, model evasion, and adversarial attacks, while ensuring performant and maintainable decision infrastructure at scale
