Candidates are required to have a minimum of 10 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Java backend development, including experience with leading complex initiatives and collaborating with other teams to agree on technical designs. They must possess solid knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns, along with experience in unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development (TDD). Proficiency in Git and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) is essential, as is experience with Spring Boot and relevant backend frameworks. Furthermore, candidates should have experience working in an Agile development environment, knowledge of Terraform, Kafka, Kubernetes, GraphQL Federation, and Azure Cloud, alongside strong problem-solving and analytical skills and excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
As a Staff Java Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable backend solutions using Java, contributing to the entire software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to design, coding, testing, and deployment. You will also take ownership of the technical aspects of development within an Agile and collaborative environment, mentoring junior developers, influencing and improving engineering practices, and contributing to the growth and success of the team. Additionally, you will monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation across North America and develop HR policies to ensure compliance, conduct audits, deliver training, and advise management on HR-related risk mitigation strategies.
