Responsibilities

Install, customize, and maintain mainframe networking and middleware software (e.g., z/OS Communication Server, CICS, DB2, MQ Series, Connect:Direct); apply maintenance to ensure system stability
Serve as top-tier escalation point for troubleshooting complex problems in mainframe networking and middleware; perform root cause analysis and implement solutions; work with vendors on fixes
Provide guidance to less experienced staff and collaborate with partner teams to address root causes
Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement tuning to meet SLAs
Implement and maintain security protocols with the security team to ensure compliance
Lead and participate in projects like major software upgrades, hardware refreshes, and disaster recovery exercises
Collaborate with application developers, operations staff, and other systems programmers; mentor junior team members
Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and problem-solving techniques
Participate in technical research, architecture discussions, and innovation for Middleware & Networking infrastructure
Take ownership of 24/7 on-call emergency support responsibilities
