Requirements

Two or four-year Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering (or related field)
Expertise in electrical, mechanical, and control system communication aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics, and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS)
Ability to use diagnostic software and tools to collect and analyze data, identify trends, and recommend improvements
Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc
Self-starter capable of inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, training, and coaching across various resources and scenarios
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
Experience conducting technical interviews, evaluating technical skills, and training/coaching technicians

Responsibilities

Ensure high equipment availability and optimize system performance using preventive and predictive maintenance processes
Rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to service
Work with engineers and operational partners to optimize performance and flow of material handling equipment
Lead building automation, continuous improvement, and new installation initiatives
Serve as escalated support resource during downtime events, implementing root cause analysis, processes, and training
Proactively monitor the overall health of the building’s material handling equipment
Facilitate material flow optimization, understand system controls logic, and train effective troubleshooting techniques
Maintain expertise around all aspects of MHE on site
Conduct technical interviews for technician candidates and evaluate skills
Train and coach internal technicians, support training plan development, and follow up on progress
Ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
