Senior Staff Software Engineer - Core Platform

Position Overview

Cribl is a rapidly growing company that provides the data engine for IT and Security, trusted by major industry leaders to solve pressing data needs. We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Platform team. This role is crucial for creating and maintaining the foundational software infrastructure that supports Cribl's entire product ecosystem, including scalable systems, shared services, developer tools, and core components. You will be instrumental in enabling other product teams to build customer-facing features quickly and reliably. This position offers a unique blend of research and development, focusing on building scalable, robust, and high-performing distributed systems for processing large datasets in real-time.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for products, projects, and features, with a strong emphasis on back-end systems and APIs responsible for data ingestion, processing, and routing.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and design reviews within the team.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to translate feature specifications into product designs and implementable code.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain clear, concise, and robust code that delivers intended customer outcomes.
• Create robust test plans and comprehensive automated tests to ensure product features function as expected.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers on code design and implementation.
• Contribute to internal and external blogs to evangelize innovation and engage users with product development insights.
• Participate in stand-by, on-call, or off-hours duties as required.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience building products that leverage large-scale data sets.
• Proficiency in Node.js/Typescript/React.
• A passion for learning new technologies and the ability to develop prototypes quickly.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience with using and developing REST APIs.
• Experience with Agile processes and rapid iterative development.
• A strong sense of ownership with a focus on delivering high-quality, high-performing results.
• Experience developing services for cloud-based platforms.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: $240,000 - $275,000 (dependent on geographic location and candidate experience).
