Requirements

  • Strong background in data science, including modeling, statistics, optimization, or machine learning
  • Experience with applied machine learning, forecasting, and predictive algorithms using data at scale
  • Proficiency in software/product development of highly performant code for model performance
  • Retail domain knowledge, particularly in stores operations, properties, payroll forecasting, fulfillment planning, sustainable energy solutions, and operations simulation
  • Ability to analyze large datasets to derive insights for business process improvements
  • Experience developing forecasting models, mathematical models (probabilistic/deterministic), and implementing them in production systems
  • Skills in building and maintaining complex software systems and tools
  • Capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in models and software

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product, Tech, and business partners to solve retail challenges at scale within stores
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain data science models and tools
  • Work closely with applied data scientists, data analysts, and business partners to learn and address evolving business needs
  • Collaborate with engineers and data scientists on peer teams to build stores solutions
  • Develop a strong understanding of business and operational processes within Target’s Stores
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of systems and processes influencing stores’ efficiency
  • Analyze large datasets to derive insights for business process improvements and solution development
  • Develop forecasting models, mathematical models, and implement them in real-world production systems with measurable impact
  • Collaborate with the team to build and maintain complex software systems and tools
  • Coordinate the analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues in models and software
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver on business objectives
  • Provide financial insight and guidance to business partners and leadership
  • Drive efficiencies across stores and properties initiatives
