Requirements

  • J.D. degree and membership in a state bar with good standing (or foreign equivalent)
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience
  • Experience as In-house counsel
  • Substantial experience advising on global privacy issues across multiple jurisdictions, including those related to data privacy and security
  • Background working with regulators and responding to regulatory inquiries
  • Ability to drive impact, outcomes and engagement using limited resources to get results
  • Established ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and build consensus across cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to distill nuanced concepts into concise messages, write and edit for a variety of audiences, and deliver polished presentations
  • Bonus points for
  • Experience with the online advertising industry
  • High fluency in internet technologies and software development
  • CIPP or related certifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement risk-based strategies in partnership with internal teams
  • Evaluate and internally report on privacy-related U.S., European, and international legislative, regulatory, legal developments and translate them into guidance for the business teams
  • Design and evolve global privacy compliance programs and strategies across Mozilla
  • Lead privacy risk assessments including DPIAs, TIAs, and third-party reviews
  • Draft, revise, and maintain consumer and developer legal terms, privacy policies, notices, and privacy trainings
  • Help embed privacy-by-design principles into workflows and product development
  • Work with commercial legal teams on critical privacy issues for our agreements with advertisers and other third parties
  • Provide privacy advice in M&A transactions and post-close integration activities
