Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific discipline or health care (Required)
  • Prior clinical trial experience including experience in a management/leadership capacity or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable clinical research regulatory requirements (e.g., Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Written and verbal communication skills including good command of English
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple internal/external clients with competing goals
  • Ability to support strategic business decisions by partnering with cross-functional operational teams

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of clinical staff supporting clinical studies to ensure projects are appropriately resourced, employees are trained, and project objectives are met
  • Support senior leadership on resourcing strategies and local client relationships
  • Manage staff in accordance with organization policies and regulations, including planning/assigning/directing work, assessing performance, guiding development, rewarding/disciplining employees, and resolving employee relations issues
  • Participate in hiring new employees (including managers) through candidate review and interviews; ensure proper onboarding and training
  • Ensure staff have proper materials, systems access, and training; oversee execution of training plans, SOP reviews, and training experiences
  • Participate in resource allocation to clinical research projects by assigning staff based on experience and training
  • Manage quality of assigned staff's clinical work through regular review and evaluation
  • Identify quality risks/issues and create corrective action plans to address performance deficiencies
  • Ensure staff meet defined workload and quality metrics through regular review and reporting
  • Collaborate with other clinical teams and functional leadership to manage project challenges and achieve exemplary customer service
  • Participate in corporate/organizational quality or process improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior managers
  • Act as a client liaison for local sponsor affiliates
  • Mentor and coach new peers assimilating into the role
