Requirements

  • CCC-SLP - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or presently active in a supervised clinical fellowship year and certification received within one year of employment (Upon Hire)
  • Speech-Language Pathologist - active license in the state of practice (Upon Hire)
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Knowledge of age-specific factors for patients from infant through geriatrics
  • Preferred: 1-3 years Speech Language Pathologist experience in a hospital, SNF, outpatient and/or home health setting

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates assigned patients through selection, administration, and interpretation of formal and informal diagnostic assessments to determine levels of functioning and intervention needs in all areas of speech pathology
  • Develops and implements individualized treatment programs for patients needing services
  • Establishes and modifies intervention goals and strategies for patients/treatment program based on ongoing evaluations; uses selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health, and to achieve treatment goals
  • Provides direct therapy services to patients using various functional settings and strategies
  • Plans therapy within the patient’s individual physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities, coordinated with rehabilitation, medical, and nursing care plans
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and other reports
  • Communicates effectively with patient, family, physician, and other disciplinary team members regarding patient status, progress, and needs
  • Establishes rapport and works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members (including family/physician) throughout the patient’s intervention program
  • Participates in program development of the department; evaluates and monitors clinical internship with students affiliating in various universities/colleges
