Requirements

  • Possess a valid Illinois or Wisconsin Applicator pesticide license
  • Ability to use mowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, pruners and handsaws
  • Demonstrate an acceptable level of basic plant recognition and horticultural knowledge
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50 lbs.)
  • Ability to work outside in various conditions
  • Some natural areas restoration experience
  • S130/S190 or Midwest Ecological Prescription Burn Crew Member Certificate
  • Ability to use chainsaw

Responsibilities

  • Physically remove invasive plants to allow native plants to compete successfully and flourish
  • Mix and apply herbicide according to the label
  • Haul and load plant refuse and clean up the job site
  • Follow instructions given to you by your production coordinator or crew leader
  • Maintain high standard of quality
  • Participate in all necessary training regarding equipment, safety, plant identification, and work procedures
