Senior Software Engineer - Observability

Candidates should have at least 2 years of industry experience in designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems in production. Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, or C++ is required. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment are necessary. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment are also important. A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields is preferred. Experience developing or using observability infrastructure such as OpenTelemetry or Prometheus is a plus.
The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable observability solutions for logging, metrics, and distributed tracing. They will build tools and automation to enhance system monitoring, alerting, and root cause analysis. The engineer will improve and optimize data ingestion, storage, and query efficiency for observability data at scale. Collaboration with teams across Snowflake to understand observability needs and implement solutions that improve operational visibility is essential. Additionally, they will contribute to open-source and industry best practices in observability and distributed systems monitoring, and ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of observability systems by participating in on-call rotations and incident management.
