- Technical background in iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit), Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose), or backend (Typescript, Java, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch)
- Interest in mobile development, backend engineering, or related focus areas (e.g., API design, real-time notifications, database selection)
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team (Product, Design, Engineering, Analytics)
- Availability for internship in Gent, with agile workflow (weekly check-ins, demos)
Responsibilities
- Develop an innovative feature or tool to help users discover people in new ways (Proof of Concept: working app-flow or backend-service)
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, and Analytics teams to define scope during intake
- Build prototypes integrating Tinder's design guidelines, animations, push-notifications, in-app prompts, or micro-interactions (iOS/Android)
- Design backend API, handle user-generated content storage/retrieval, experiment with real-time notifications or event-driven architecture, and choose/motivate database technology
- Conduct research and provide recommendations on architecture
- Document the design (API schemas, wireframes, flowcharts)
- Deliver end presentation to the team with lessons learned and PoC demo
