Position Overview

Our team is focused on building and scaling cloud-scale data infrastructure that powers customer-facing metrics and events, while also evangelizing platform architecture best practices. This infrastructure is critical for products like Health+, Metrics API, and use cases such as billing, deep insights, and product visibility.

We are passionate about the observability space for large-scale distributed infrastructures. At Confluent, we build, operate, and improve systems for logging, notifications & alerts, event detection and routing, and metrics.

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the design, development, and operation of scalable, resilient data infrastructure supporting observability, logging, alerting, and metrics for Confluent Cloud.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers to build and maintain core components of the Cloud Manageability platform, such as Health+, Metrics API, and Alert Platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code while gaining hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint planning to continuously improve the quality and performance of our systems.
• Take ownership of small projects and deliver features that directly impact the reliability and usability of Confluent Cloud for internal and external users.

What You Will Bring

• A recent graduate who will be working remotely based in the UK with a UK address at the time of application.
• Graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, C, C++, Python, Go.
• Self-motivated and able to drive projects with mentorship and project requirements.
• Smart, humble, and empathetic with strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Driven and excited about the challenges of a fast-paced, innovative, and quickly growing software development environment.
• Interested in building large-scale distributed systems.
